Trisha Brown-Leweke is the sole owner, operator and therapist at The Mother Bear Spa. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the 5th child of Jamaican immigrants. Trisha graduated college and worked in the field of social work for many years. At the age of 30, Trisha traded the busyness of Bronx, N.Y. for the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. After moving, she experienced different kinds of work including jobs as a photographer, a mom and an office manager. After receiving a healing pre-natal massage, she decided to become a massage therapist. In 2006, with a financial gift from her parents, Trisha attended the Shenandoah Valley School of Therapeutic Massage (Edinburgh, VA), and has since served the Harrisonburg community by bringing wellness in the form of bodywork. She began studying Reiki in 2009, and in 2012, Traditional Healing Arts and Stone Medicine with Sandra Hoak of Cedar Stone School of Massage and Spa.

"Trisha is an amazing energy worker. I felt like I was on my last nerve and came in to her spa a wreck. With her calm, professional, assuring presence I immediately relaxed. Not only was I able to leave feeling grounded and peaceful, I also came away with knowledge about myself that I can use. Thank you, Trisha!" E.N., Virginia
"The new location for Mother Bear on South High Street is a spacious, relaxing place to visit Trisha. Even though I've moved out of town, I still return to get massages from her!" J.S., Washington D.C.
